Valley Technology updated Consumer Profile's call centre systems by installing dual Fujitsu Siemens servers running SuSE Linux. The specialist software used by Consumer Profile - SPSS Quancept and SMS (Sample Management Software) - was recompiled to run natively under SuSE Linux, and all of their historical research data was transferred to the new servers. Data is synchronised between the primary and backup servers every 15 minutes, significantly reducing potential data loss in the event of systems failure.
By migrating to Linux, Consumer Profile have reduced costs through reduced license fees, and also draw benefit from the huge range of Open Source Software readily available for Linux, such as the LDAP database used to host their 50 user accounts. Hardware costs have also been kept to a minimum as the existing Wyse workstation hardware has been reused.
Systems are monitored remotely by Valley Technology, with next business day on-site support provided in the event of mission critical failure.
